Why Pure Desi Ghee?

Not for tradition's sake. For science.

Most ointments use a synthetic base. Swellnil uses pure desi ghee — classified in Ayurveda as a Yogavahi, a carrier that enhances the potency of every herb it carries.

Modern research confirms this: ghee's lipid matrix enhances absorption of herbal actives deep into the wound. Studies show ghee-based formulations upregulate Collagen I and TGF-beta3 — markers of scarless wound repair.

And critically for pets: ghee is food. If your dog or cat licks the ointment, they're licking something their body already knows how to process. That's what "lick-safe" actually means.

17 Herbs. Each With a Job.

Nothing is here for marketing. Every ingredient has a specific role in wound healing.

Haridra (Turmeric)

Inhibits NF-kB & COX-2 — the same inflammatory pathways targeted by modern drugs, without the side effects.

Lobhan (Frankincense)

Boswellic acids block 5-lipoxygenase, shutting down leukotriene synthesis. Protects tissue matrix unlike NSAIDs.

Khadira (Black Catechu)

Rich in catechins — potent antioxidants that form a protective barrier on wound surfaces.

Karpoor (Camphor)

Activates PI3K/AKT pathway, directly stimulating fibroblast proliferation — the cells that rebuild tissue.

Ghrutam (Pure Desi Ghee)

Upregulates Collagen I & TGF-beta3 for scarless repair. Acts as Yogavahi — enhances potency of all other herbs.

Punarnawa

"The rejuvenator" — modulates NF-kB pathway, reduces edema, and supports tissue remodeling.

+ 11 more herbs including Vacha, Karanj, Shankhajire, Gairika, Raktarohida, and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Swellnil safe if my pet licks it?

Yes. Swellnil's therapeutic base is pure desi ghee, carrying 17 Ayurvedic herbs. A small amount of petroleum jelly is used for smooth, easy-to-apply texture. All ingredients are non-toxic and safe if licked.

Petroleum jelly (petrolatum) is FDA-approved as a food additive (21 CFR 172.880) and is the primary ingredient in veterinary hairball remedies like Laxatone, dosed orally at 1/2 to 1 teaspoon for cats. A two-year feeding study found no adverse effects at doses up to 1,200 mg/kg/day (Trimmer et al., 2004). It is not listed as toxic by ASPCA or Pet Poison Helpline.

Can I use it on both dogs and cats?

Yes. Swellnil is safe for both dogs and cats of all breeds and ages.

How quickly does it work?

Most swelling reduces noticeably within 2–3 applications. Clinical trials at IVRI observed wound contraction by the fourth day. Results vary based on wound severity.

Does it contain steroids or antibiotics?

No. Swellnil contains zero steroids, antibiotics, or synthetic chemicals. It works entirely through Ayurvedic herbs and minerals.

What's the shelf life?

3 years from the date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place.

Can I use it alongside other medications?

Swellnil can be used as an adjunct to other treatments. Being non-irritant, it is well tolerated. However, consult your veterinarian for specific medical conditions.

What exactly is in Swellnil?

Swellnil contains 17 Ayurvedic herbs and minerals in a pure desi ghee (Ghrutam) base. A small amount of petroleum jelly is included as a texture agent for smooth application. Every ingredient is non-toxic and safe if ingested.
